Fox line art print · 80/20 ring-spun cotton fleece · five garment-dyed colors · Comfort Colors 1566 · printed graphic, nothing stitched on
Garment-Dyed Crewneck · Five Colors · The Quiet Line
A fox sitting with its tail wrapped round, glancing back over its shoulder — drawn in a few flowing white lines, with no text.

Shown in Blue Jean. Garment-dyed fleece, 9.5 oz, soft from the first wear.
A red fox, sitting. The brush of its tail sweeps forward and curls around its feet in two long strokes; the body rises out of it in a single line; the head turns back over the shoulder, ears up, one eye on whatever is behind it. That is the whole drawing — perhaps a dozen lines in all, with the white of the ink doing the work and the color of the sweatshirt filling in the rest. Nothing is shaded and nothing is outlined twice. There is no text, no border and no background: just the fox, mid-glance, on the chest.
The Design
Large front-centered chest print — not a back print
Subject: a seated red fox, tail curled around its feet, looking back over its shoulder
Style: flowing line art in a single white ink — long continuous strokes, no fill, no shading
No text. There is no lettering, slogan, place name or wordmark anywhere in this design
Technique: a printed graphic — the white ink sits in the fleece with no background panel, and nothing is stitched or sewn on

Shown in Pepper. White line on washed black — the highest contrast of the five.
A fox hunting a vole it cannot see, under a foot of snow, will stand very still, tilt its head to listen, and then leap in a high arc and come down nose-first exactly where the sound was. Researchers who filmed hundreds of these jumps found something strange: the fox is far more likely to catch the vole when it pounces toward the north-east, and far less likely in any other direction — the best explanation anyone has is that it lines up the sound with the Earth's magnetic field, the way a rangefinder lines up two images. The fox has no idea it is doing this. It just knows which way to face. And when it is done, it does what the one on this sweatshirt is doing — sits down, wraps the tail round, and looks back over its shoulder to see if anyone was watching.
The Story Behind It
✦ ✦ ✦
The fox came through the back garden at the same time every evening that winter, just after the kitchen light went on. It never hurried. It crossed the frost on the lawn, stopped at the gap in the fence, sat, and looked back at the house — straight at the window — for about the length of a breath. Then it was gone.
She started timing dinner around it. Her husband said it was looking at the bird feeder. She said it was looking at her. They never settled it, and by March the fox had stopped coming, and the garden felt emptier than a garden should for the lack of one small animal that had never once come closer than the fence.
She still glances out at that time of evening. Everybody has a fox like that — something that passed through, looked back once, and left.
✦ ✦ ✦
Wear it for the one that looked back.

Shown in Blue Spruce. The fox in its own woods.
A gift for the person who feeds the fox and pretends not to, for a hiker or a trail runner who has met one at dawn, for anyone whose favorite animal has always been the fox, or for someone who wants a sweatshirt with one quiet drawing on it and nothing to say. It pairs with the Heron Line Art T-Shirt, drawn in the same hand — the other animal that stands still and watches.

Fabric
Printed on a Comfort Colors 1566 garment-dyed crewneck sweatshirt blank
80% ring-spun cotton / 20% polyester fleece, 9.5 oz — midweight, with a brushed inside and a soft, slightly textured face
Soft-washed after dyeing, so it arrives already broken in
Dyed after the garment is sewn, using salt-free pigment dyes; OEKO-TEX certified
Holds its shape through the wash, with almost no shrinkage at home
The graphic will not crack or peel. It is printed flat into the face of the fleece — no heavy vinyl patch, no rubbery texture, nothing to pull loose
Choosing a Color
The fox is white ink, so every color here is a dark or mid tone chosen to make it stand out. The deeper the shirt, the brighter the fox.
Blue Jean. Washed mid-denim blue, the one on the hero photo. Easy to wear with everything and the most-ordered color across the shop.
Pepper. Washed black. The sharpest contrast — the fox glows.
Blue Spruce. Deep forest green. The fox in its own woods; the most seasonal of the five.
Denim. Darker, dustier blue than Blue Jean — a touch more serious, still soft.
Light Green. Soft washed sage. The gentlest contrast; the fox reads as a chalk sketch on a slate wall.
Garment-dyed colors look softer and more muted in person than on a screen, and each piece varies slightly. That lived-in tone is part of the charm.
