Garment-Dyed Sweatshirt · Eight Colors · Designed in Colorado
Red wooden skis against the fence, a lantern lit, and first tracks to come.
Shown in White. Garment-dyed 9.5 oz heavyweight brushed fleece, soft from the first wear.
A pair of old red wooden skis with leather bindings, leaned against a split-rail fence with the snow piled soft along every rail, two bamboo poles crossed beside them and a brass lantern hung from the post, lit. A snow-heavy pine stands behind. That's the whole picture — no lodge, no mountain, no crowd — just the gear put up for the night and the light left on for whoever comes back last. Painted in the manner of the old alpine travel posters, soft grain and oxblood red, with the pine forming the top edge of the print. No text, no resort name.
The Design
Large front-centered chest print — not a back print
Subject: vintage red wooden skis and bamboo poles leaning on a snowy split-rail fence, a lit lantern and a snow-covered pine
Style: painted vintage travel-poster illustration with soft paper grain
No text. There is no lettering, slogan, resort name or wordmark anywhere in this design
Technique: a printed graphic — the ink sits in the fleece, straight onto the garment color with no background panel, and nothing is stitched or sewn on
The same scene carried across eight garment-dyed grounds — the shirt color becomes the sky.
Wooden skis were left outside on purpose. Bring them into a warm cabin and the snow melts into the grain and freezes again by morning; leave them against the fence and they stay cold and dry and run clean on the first pitch. So every ski town had its fences — skis along the rails in the evening like horses at a hitching post, and a lantern on the post because the last one home still had to find the gate in the dark. The lantern wasn't decoration. It was a promise that somebody was still up.
The Story Behind It
✦ ✦ ✦
The cabin had no porch light, so her grandmother hung a lantern on the fence post instead, every evening from the first snow to the last, and lit it at dusk whether anyone was out or not. Her grandfather skied the back bowl alone most afternoons and came home by the lantern — down through the pines in the blue light, aiming for the one warm spot in the dark.
He'd lean the skis on the rails beside it, stamp the snow off his boots, and stand there a minute before going in — looking back up the hill at the tracks he'd made, already filling in. She watched him do it from the kitchen window a hundred times. She never asked what he was thinking. She thinks she knows now.
The lantern is hers now. It hangs on a fence post six hundred miles from that cabin, and she lights it at dusk from the first snow to the last, whether anyone is out or not.
✦ ✦ ✦
Wear it for the ones who leave a light on, and the ones who come home by it.
The print runs large and centered on the chest, straight onto the garment color — no panel, no frame, not a back print.
A gift for the skier who's always first on the hill, the one who still waxes by hand, or anyone who keeps a cabin — or wishes they did. Quieter than our lodge scene, and the easier one to wear to town. Nothing on it ties it to a holiday, so it wears from the first snow in November to the last corn-snow day in April.

Fabric
Comfort Colors 1566 garment-dyed crewneck sweatshirt
80% ring-spun US cotton, 20% polyester, 9.5 oz heavyweight — substantial, and warm enough to be the layer rather than something under one
Three-end fleece with a 100% cotton face and a brushed fleece interior, warmer than a lighter French terry
Dyed after the garment is sewn, using salt-free pigment dyes; OEKO-TEX certified
Holds its shape through the wash, with almost no shrinkage at home
The graphic will not crack or peel. It is printed flat into the face of the fleece — no heavy vinyl patch, no rubbery texture, nothing to pull loose
Choosing a Color
The design is cream snow, deep pine green, oxblood-red skis, weathered brown rails and one warm lantern — with no painted sky, so the shirt color is the sky. The pine and the fence give it an outline, which is why this one holds up on every ground, light or dark.
Pepper. A soft washed black, closer to charcoal than jet. The lantern does its job here — the one warm light in the dark — which is why the page opens on it.
Blue Spruce. Deep evergreen, the color of the pine in the print. Red skis on dark green is the most alpine of the eight.
Grey. A light heathered grey — a snow sky. Calm and neutral, and the easiest of the eight to give.
White. A soft, warm off-white. The fence and pine carry it, and the red skis are the brightest thing on the shirt — the crispest version of the eight.
Light Green. Soft sage. The pine settles in and the red skis and brass lantern step forward — a gentler, cabin feel.
Chambray. The palest washed blue, like a clear cold morning — the morning the skis are waiting for.
Blue Jean. A light washed denim. Red skis against blue is the classic poster pairing, and it's the easiest to wear year round.
Denim. A dark washed indigo, the sky at dusk when the lantern gets lit. Moody and rich.
Garment-dyed colors look softer and more muted in person than on a screen, and each piece varies slightly. That lived-in tone is part of the charm.
Sizing
A relaxed unisex cut that most people wear true to size. Size down one for a closer fit.
Adult sizes only, S to 3XL. Between sizes? We will make it right, free.
